Homeowners Insurance
Select a higher deductible amount.
Install protective devices such as smoke alarms or burglar alarms.
If you are moving, check factors such as proximity to a fire department, which may lower your insurance premium.
Inquire about credits for updated electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
Ask about windstorm mitigation credits.
A new home discount is applied automatically if your property is built in 2001 or newer.

Automobile Insurance
Choose a higher deductible amount.
If possible, insure two or more vehicles.
Purchase vehicles with airbags, anti-lock brakes, or other safety devices.
Equip your vehicle with an anti-theft device, such as alarms or the Lojack Recovery System.
Inquire about safe driver, accident prevention training, good student, driver education training, or other similar discounts.
Check into theft rates, safety records, and repair costs of a particular model before you decide to purchase.
Ask if you qualify for multiple policy discounts.
